Americans Against the Tea Party: Rep. Elijah Cummings Calls TEApublican Rep. Darrell Issa Out On IRS ‘Scandal’

-by  James Schlarmann

June 10, 2013- Okay, so if the Benghazi emails were faked and Rep. Darrell Issa is proven to have been cherry-picking interview excerpts about the IRS “scandal” in an attempt to try and show that the White House was involved, we get to ignore him.  Not that we shouldn’t be ignoring the shady chairman of the House Oversight Committee to begin with, but if/when Issa’s colleague releases the full IRS interview transcripts and if/when it’s proven that Issa was the one lying, not Carney, I think my head will explode the next time I see Darrell on TV, piping his steaming pile of nonsense into conservative ears everywhere.

Over the weekend, Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) vowed on CNN’s “State of the Union” program to release the full transcripts of the interviews that were conducted with IRS officials and staff members while the investigation of Tea Party group targeting was underway. Cummings said “I want every syllable of those transcripts to be released,” to CNN’s Candy Crowley. Cummings also spoke of a supervisor at the IRS who was a self-described “conservative Republican” who flat-out denied any political motivation.

Rep. Cummings also mentioned a letter he sent to Issa quoting that conservative Republican IRS supervisor as saying, “I do not believe that the screening of these cases had anything to do [with anything] other than consistency and identifying issues that needed to have further development.” The picture is becoming very clear now. Darrell Issa is really good at taking a piece of the whole story and spinning it into anti-Obama rhetoric, but he’s not good at keeping the lies up, because he is constantly caught in them.

I’m not suggesting it was Issa who doctored the White House Benghazi emails that supposedly were going to blow that “scandal” wide open, but I am suggesting it was his party that would have benefited from it if he had. I am suggesting that from the very beginning of his tenure as chairman of Oversight, Issa has been a partisan crusader and nothing else. He was calling the Obama administration corrupt before he even held one hearing or investigation. I know we liberals have been calling Ted Cruz the new Joe McCarthy, and there is certainly something to that, but clearly Issa is the House version of Joe McCarthy, constantly throwing accusations and rhetoric against the wall and hoping something sticks.
